I’ve seen that a lot of artists are painting fruit for some reason. It seems that couple of apples are always lying around as a quick subject matter to study rendering 3-d shapes and color. Until today, I had no compelling reason join in. A friend of mine was generous with the apple pears he collected from the tree in his back yard, inviting us all to take as much as we liked. When I texted back how delicious they were, he offered more. So before we ate the last 3, I had to paint them as a token of my appreciation. I never realized how challenging the task is, the light was changing and the shadows moved. The subtleties of color were elusive to me with the brownish orangish greens. Well, here was my first fruit portrait in paint.
